For us it is one of the best apple desserts we have ever had. The apple tart received rave reviews from everyone, both from those who like doughy, baked goods and those who prefer mushy and other delicacies. It's simple to make, and the combination of textures and tastes is wow: crumbly pastry, smooth cream cheese, slightly tart apples and almonds.
- 115 g soft butter and 1/3 cup sugar mix until creamy.
- Add vanilla and 1 cup flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Leave to cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Roll out into a tart shape and prick.
- Bake for 15' at 200°C.
- After 15' remove the pastry from the oven and make the cheese filling.
- Filling: mix the egg (if it is very small, you can add another small egg) with 1/4 cup of sugar and 325 g of cream cheese (you can use cream cheese mix, mascarpone, ricotta) and a teaspoon of vanilla until the mixture is smooth, creamy and soft. I like the mixture to be softer because that way it doesn't dry out too much when baked and remains easy to eat.
- Peel the apples, cut them in half and slice each into very thin slices.
- Place the apple slices in a bowl, cover with a cup of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon and stir.
- Pour all the cream on top of the warm mixture
- Place the apple slices in concentric circles over the cream until the entire surface is covered.
- Sprinkle almonds or chopped hazelnuts on top.
- Bake 30-40' at 180-200°C.
